KANNFINCH, a 50-year-old, reputable architectural practice with offices across Australia, Asia and the Middle East has collaborated with Toby Breakspear, a young, innovative architect. This team has given the building its simple, bold, modernist aesthetic.

“This pocket of Erskineville mixes tradition and heritage with a really exciting future. We see One A as part of the wonderful environment that’s being created here.

There’s a leafy aspect from every apartment, all configured so you can live on the outer edges of the homes and be amongst the trees. We wanted to make the most of the amazing frontage on Macdonald St that’s being transformed into a really beautiful and grand tree-lined street.

There’s a real sense of place being created here, both inside the homes and outside in the precinct, where people will feel good about being.”

A dramatic carved entrance feels like an enormous outdoor room that funnels you inwards into the building and internal courtyard and out into the precinct buzz with links to the future McPherson Park village green nearby.

A beautiful internal courtyard garden creates green space within, while expansive picture windows and balconies benefit from the new green vision for the Ashmore precinct.

INNOVATIVE DESIGN

One A’s inventive architectural thinking has a brilliant impact on the interior spaces. Most have living rooms that sit flush against the façade’s signature picture windows with inset rather than projecting balconies that function more as indoor-outdoor rooms.
